Each year, Hip Hop supporters from around the country gather in Seattle, Washington to celebrate and experience the 206 Zulu - Universal Zulu Nation Anniversaries.
In only a few short years, 206 Zulu has recieved wide recognition for the precedence it has set in community-building, education, outreach, activism, and artistic excellence. Since its inception in 2004, 206 Zulu and its 70+ membership has taken the UZN motto of "Knowledge, Wisdom, and Understanding" to another level for the next generation.
Once a year, 206 Zulu dedicates Presidents weekend in February as a time to celebrate not just the organization's accomplishments, but to pay tribute to the entire Hip Hop culture.
Continuing in the tradition of "Peace, Love, Unity & Having Fun", this 3 day event carries a mission to:
* Celebrate 206 Zulu's 5th anniversary and Black History month.
* Preserve and promote the core elements of Hip Hop culture: Deejaying and Emceeing (music), Graff (visual art), and B-Boying/B-Girling (dance).
* Delineate the uplifting and empowering essence of Hip Hop.
* Create dialog to aid in solutions to prevalent issues in the Hip Hop community and the world at large.
* Raise consciousness on aforementioned issues to those outside the Hip Hop community.
* Heighten the exposure of emerging artists from around the country.
* Motivate youth by providing positive avenues of self-expression and encouraging unity.
* Open lines of communication for personal growth and networking.
* Unify people of all-ages from all walks of life.

Festival Sundiata was incorporated in 1981 and has a 27 year history of bringing African/African-American Cultural Arts to the Seattle area.
Festival Sundiata named in honor of Sundiata Keita the historic and legendary Mansa (King of Kings) of the Mali Empire in West Africa, celebrates the popular traditions of this national hero. King Sundiata rescued his people's Griot while creating one of the most significant cultural and economic kingdoms in Africa.
ART EXHIBIT
Sundiata showcases local and regional entertainment, art and photography exhibits, retail and food merchants and a dynamic children's place.
A major exhibition of works by established and emerging African and African-American artists, photographers and quilters of the Pacific Northwest.
CHILDREN'S PLACE
Hands-on craft tables using African and African-American traditions that instruct children how to make African inspired dolls, flags, jewelry and masks. Face painting is also available.
PERFORMANCE ENTERTAINMENT
An impressive line-up of Northwest artists who take jazz, gospel, Hip-Hop, R&B, traditional African music, dance and dramatic performances to new heights. There is continuous live entertainment on multiple stages.

5th ANNIVERSARY of 206 ZULU
Universal Zulu Nation Seattle Chapter
Celebration of Hip Hop Culture
Held in Seattle, Washington Feb. 13th- 15th, 2009
at the Seattle Center Vera Project
This coming February 13-15th, 206 Zulu will be celebrating it's 5th Anniversary and Black History Month with three days of true-school Hip Hop, showcasing some of today's emerging artists from the Northwest and beyond! The main events, held on the 14th and 15th will be in conjunction with Festival Sundiata at the Seattle Center. Festival Sundiata is Seattle’s largest and longest-lasting (28 years) African/American cultural arts festival. This all-ages event is FREE to the public. In addition to the musical performances, 206 Zulu will host a break battle (dance competition), art/graff showcase, educational-orientated workshops and panels. Additionally, 206 Zulu will host a series of after-parties as well as Zulu Nation specials on local urban media sources to add to the weekend experience!! Come and be a part of Seattle Hip Hop history/herstory!!!
